*whine*

My eye hurts.
My human says I have some irritation of the conjunctiva...I think in human speak that means, my eye hurts?

It does. It's goopy too. Making me squint a lot. Good news tho is that the NASTY stuff my human puts in my eye makes me feel so much better and the goop was gone this morning!

I hope my eye is better soon because I can't really do cray-zay eye with a sore eyeball.

Hmmph.

The weatherTVman said the cold is coming back which makes me happy. The only thing worse than a sore eye is a sore eye AND being too hot. I think it was 50 degrees yesterday with means in Cleo language "too hot"!!

It's Monday so my kids went to school. I don't like this day of the week...but at least they will be home later, I like my house the best...when ALL my people are inside it!

ETA: I has a video to share! Here I am, dancing to a song I love! "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, dance with me??

Sick house

Cleo here, I know I have been gone awhile and I will tell ya why...

My people got sick. I dunno how...none of them ate that thing I found in the yard the other day that made ME feel kinda wonky. They seemed to want to do nothing but lay around, and make stuff come out of their mouth or their butts...and my human Mom was super grumpy. I'd sit on her feets and breathe on her, like a always do and she PUT ME OUTSIDE!! I was stuck out there for most of the day and the next one too!

To make things even worse outside...it was HOT...like burning hot. The weatherTVperson said it was seventy something. I dunno what that number means but I know I was hot! I kept checking in the windows to see if someone was coming to let me inside but no luck til almost NITE! She let me inside then and gave me my dinner and petted me and talked to me about "stress" and "needing a break" whatever that means!

I guess that when my human has 3 sick people to care for she needs all her "sanity" which I don't know what that is but surely a little tiny dog like me constantly behind her is not anything that would affect her "sanity"??

Things are back to normal now mostly...the small boy is at school but my Lily is still home...my human says we need to keep an eye on her and make sure she is okay. Well DUH... I do that all the time, anyways...amateurs!

Where do puppies come from?

from ME that's where! I am Cleo and I am going to have puppies. I just know it.

My human says I am a nut and dramatic and such...she said something about there being no way since there was never a "boy dog" within spitting distance of me, ever in my whole life. I don't know WHAT "boy" dogs are anyways...what do they have to do with puppies coming? Humans are cray-zay.

I been making my crate all nice and cosy for my puppies and I brought in some stuffed amminals that I like a lot...been moving them around with my nose sometimes.

My human said to me the only puppies I can have are invisible ones but pfft! I don't care what color they are I will love them anyways...because that's what Momma dogs, do!

I am not mopey and dramatic...

When you are havin puppies you lay around a lot is all....

Me and my best girl

Hi everyone, it's Cleo here once again. Today I wanted to share something about my best friend...her name is Lily. She is my human's daughter, and we love each other a whole lot.

Right from when I got here, when I was small I picked Lily to be my most special person...she is small, and happy, and has pretty hair. She paid me a lot of attention and said I looked like a stuffed animal...I don't know about that but I knew I liked her!

She and I have done lots of fun things together over the couple of years that I have known her. I remember a little bit after I got to Texas...IT SNOWED!! I had heard it doesn't snow much here but there it was!!

We had a good time innit together...see how little I used to be?

We've sort of grown up together and shared a lot of special times, and gossip! That's what girls do ;o)

My human says we even kinda make the same expressions in pictures, what do you think?

I grew bigger and so did Lily, now we are both young ladies. She and I play dress up and cuddle, we play outside...even BASKETBALL (my favorite) and she even made me a "Best Friend" card that I keep on my crate so I can look at it anytime I want to!

I'll share a few more pictures of me and my best girl Lily...if you don't mind?

I think every dog should have a special girl like Lily. Or I guess a boy would be okay too...if that's all you have. Hehe. Little joke there...because I am funny. In fact my human says I am THE funniest dog ever...but I will save proof of that for a different post I think.

Thank you for stopping by to read about Lily and me!

Picture Makin'

Cleo here,
Humans love to take pictures...well most do. Some in fact love it so much they take pictures of THEMSELVES...doin nothing..just looking at the camera and doing that dumb thing they do with their mouths...smiling I think it's called...

One thing I have found is that is REALLY fun to bother them when they are doing this. They get mad...but they usually laugh too, which always mean you won't be getting into any real trouble...
Allow me to use my human to demonstrate?

See how she is mostly mad...but smiling too? I am SO safe...

Don't be scared to really go for it...the faces they make are almost worth any punishment...

There you go, don't say I never gave you all any tips!

The story of the "Hairy Godmother", Part 2

As we continue on our journey thru Cleo's development into the Hairy Godmother we leave the litter of Shirley & Laverne, both found wonderful homes with people who love them and Cleo was a bit bereft. She missed having someone little, to watch over...

But as luck would have it I agreed to foster some bottle baby kittens...4 in fact. It wasn't long before I realized that Cleo was not overly picky when it came to species. If it was little, helpless and a little bit scared of life...it needed her. She took to the kittens quite quickly, tho they took a bit longer to take to her. By the end of their time here tho...all were fast friends.

We came to realize that love, and care, and needing help comes in all sizes and Cleo was more than happy to give all the above to anyone or anything that needed her.

This little fellow was almost eaten by the lawn mower one day....my husband brought it in for me to admire as I simply adore toads. Well apparently I am not alone in that! Cleo was enchanted and tho she DID kiss it...no Prince appeared. A bit puzzled by the odd taste of her little charge, Cleo decided that she could still watch over him...even if he wasn't all that lickable!!

We came full circle in 2009...the year I bred my little bitch Ellie. It was an important litter, one coming on the heels of a traumatic event in Cleo and all our lives...the loss of our 2 oldest bitches, Susie and Nonnie...to coyotes. Cleo took this very hard, and looked for both...for days afterwards. She doubtless smelled and perhaps even heard, far more of the event than I was ever able to piece together...and you could tell it wore on her.

Ellie gave birth...after no little trouble and drama...to 3 puppies. RC, PK, and Manny....

Ellie had troubles...pretty serious ones, upon her recovery...and she needed me a great deal. Her pups also needed me...in the form of bottle feedings every 2-3 hours at first. I was a frazzled mess but I was not without help...of course. Cleo, was my right hand in this difficult time....providing solace and humor, and offering her services as a nursemaid and nanny wherever needed...because that is what Hairy Godmothers, do!

I hope you enjoyed this tale...and that it gives you some insight into why we here at my house consider Cleo a pretty special dog to have in our lives. We are very lucky to have her!

The story of the "Hairy Godmother", part 1

Cleo's nickname is the Hairy Godmother. Some may not know the backstory of how that came to be so I thought I'd post a bit about it...

Cleo came to us at about 4 mos old give or take. She was a silly floppity puppy as they tend to be...but there was also this "serious" side to her nature that would show itself now and again. Kind of a foreshadowing if you will...you could look into her puppy face and see, she was much older and wiser "inside":

Almost from the start you could see she was very drawn to my children, and always wanted to be with them, touching them or at least...watching them.

Being that she lives with Beagles that were show dogs and that I bred them from time to time to continue my line...eventually, puppies came to our home. Cleo was just about, one year old that first time.

Laverne & Shirley as the two girls were known...were born without knowing they'd have TWO great "mothers" in their early life!

Almost from the outset, Cleo's interest brodered on obsession. She knew there were puppies in the house but was not allowed near them...right at first. She would get the most interesting look on her face when she got near the room they lived in with their dam, Nonnie.

The day came when I really wondered what exactly this large, leggy, uncoordinated yearling might want with something as boring as a new puppy? So I decided, under controlled circumstances...to let them "meet".

This puppy is a bit less than 2 weeks old...I think you can see, Cleo was utterly fascinated and well, "twitterpated"

I thought it might be novelty, or a passing fascination...but she really, truly...wanted these puppies always, in her care...she would nose them tenderly, shuffle them over to her non existant milk bar, even cleaned their bottoms...

She went doe-eyed at the mere sight of one, and was the gentlest I have ever known her to be. No mean feat for a dog so much larger than they were.

They split time with their Mother and Cleo...the bond growing tighter every passing day. Cleo seemed honestly entertained by their antics and proud of their milestones. Eventually Nonnie began to be less interested in them...as is Nature's way...they were weaned onto solid foods and began spending time with people and the rest of the pack, Mom included. But their favorite place in the whole house...was near their Hairy Godmother, Cleo.

Puppies can only stand to be good, for so long...eventually their naughty side takes over. But Cleo loved that too. Her gentle discipline never crossed the line and she took so much from them that I began to wonder if she had any pride, to speak of lol. But simply put, it was more important that the pups be happy, than that the pups...be good...

Thus ends part 1, I will continue the story soon!

The Turning of Cleo.

Vampires are ALL the rage right now, aren't they? I thought I would share the story of Cleo's encounters with "the undead"...if I may? Read on! =========================================

My name is Cleo, and I used to be an ordinary dog...until...one day,

I saw this puppy...it looked sweet, innocent as only a puppy can be. It looked lost...so I approached and tried to help it,

Before I knew what was happening...it HAD me...some kind of mind control...it was so hard...to resist the compulsion!

Helpless to resist I lay down and prepared myself to be....fed upon!

The stinging kiss....the feed...it was...HORRIBLE!

AHHHH! see how the beast reveled in my utter distress? See it's gleefulness in my plight, the dripping fangs.

I did not remember what happened after that...and I thought myself safe from further attacks...I felt myself again...for a little while.

But the day came, when I was feeling a strange new feralness in my character...quite unusual for my typically mild mannered self, I would sometimes feel myself a wild thing, with wild urges...

Could it be, again? I was a victim of some supernatural being? A mere pawn in some game fueled by blood and powers I did not fathom??

No...NO....I am...BESET AGAIN BY DAEMONIC FORCES!!

Now...Now I see the meaning of this...they meant to turn me all along...this nest of vipers!! I am Cleo, NO MORE...

NOW I AM...VAMPYRE!!

==================================================
END

teehee...scary wasn't it? But don't worry...it's just a story. Cleo often has a flair for drama...it's part of what makes her such a great model! Below is the cast of this Gothic wonder:

Cleo: Herself
1st Vampyre Pup: Shirley
2nd Vampyre Pup: RC

Welcome to Cleo's place!

Many have said that I should allow my dog, Cleo to have her adventures out in cyberspace where everyone could read them. I have decided to try it! It may not be kept up as much as my other but I figure it's worth a try right?

Some background you say? Of course!

Cleo is a 2 year old Leonberger bitch...well that is to say, a female LOL. She has from the first displayed a character unlike any dog I have known...a propensity to care and to clown, to fawn and to flop...you will come to see she is quite unique among dogs, I think! If you'd like to learn MORE about her breed, the Leonberger click HERE

Most of the entries will be photo heavy, so hopefully that is alright. I may recreate some things I have posted previously only at forums I frequent, and such as well, so not everything will be "new". But hopefully everyone will be able to smile or laugh or just get a good feeling to take with them when they leave...okay? Here we go!
